Early Times Report

Udhampur, Sept 14: District Police Udhmapur under the leadership of its chief, SSP Rajiv Pandey tightened the noose of drug paddlers as 70 cases under NDPS Act have been registered in last nine months. Moreover, 111 cases of bovine smuggling have been arrested.
Pandey had earlier served in border district Poonch where people still remember him for bringing the graph of crime down. Now, serving the people of Udhampur, Pandey is working hard to make existence of the crime tough. Within a short span of nine months of his posting in district Udhampur (includes Police Stations Chenani, Udhampur, Ramnager, Rambel and Majalta) 70 cases in NDPS Act and 111 cases against bovine smugglers are among many few prominent works he did.
Acting tough against drug peddlers the officer has got two drug peddlers booked under PSA.
"With the posting of SSP Pandey we are not afraid that our children will fall prey to drug addiction and other type of bad company to spoil their life. We expect that police department should also start a de-addiction centre here," Rahul jandial, Advocate District Court Udhampur said.
"Now our daughters can move on roads without any fear as eve teasers are being dealt strictly. Also hooligans are finding a tough time and are mending their ways. All credit goes to new SSP. We expect more from him," Bishan, a village head said.
SSP Rajiv Panday while talking to this correspondent said that crime in any form would not be tolerated in the district.
