Magisterial inquiry ordered into custodial death case

Jammu, Sept 14: Magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the death of drug peddler who was died in police custody allegedly.
After hearing the news, the family members of the deceased and relatives reached Mortuary room of the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu and protested against the action of police.
Advocate Raja Mahmood Khan, who is friend of deceased's brother, told that the Ikhlaq went to market to buy some eatable products but he did not return back and his mobile was switched off. After 20- 25 minutes, his brother got a call from deceased's cell phone and that unknown person, who was over the phone told that he got cell phone from the market.
Later, his brother also got another call from a Police personnel and he told that Ikhlaq died and kept him to GMC&H's mortuary room. We came to know that it is a custodial death and we demand justice, "Khan said.
The family members and relatives demanded that police personnel who were behind this incident should be arrested and sought suspension of them and they also demanded a case should be registered against them.
Superintendent of Police Headquarter Farooq Qaiser Malik told that, a case FIR no 93/19 under section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has registered at Miran Sahib against drug peddler namely Ikhlaq Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Yakub Khan resident of Rajouri at present in Janipur area.
He added that on Saturday, information received by police that a drug peddler was seen at Janipur area.
A police team reached at the area and arrested him. He felt uneasiness and started shivering when he was being taken to Police Station and immediately he was brought to GMC&H Jammu where doctor declared him brought dead, "SP said and adding that Magisterial inquiry has been order under 176 CrPC to know the cause of death
