9/15/2019 10:17:09 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 15 : Abolition of Triple Talaq would ensure dignity and equality to crores of Muslim women, said BJP Mahila Morcha National President Vijaya Rahatkar here on Sunday.
She is on two-day visit to J&K under the series of BJP's 'Jan Jagran Abhiyaan' on 'Abrogation of Article 370 and Abolition of Triple Talaq' and will address to 'Mahila Swabhimaan Sammellan'.
Rahatkar said the passage of the Triple Talaq bill in Rajya Sabha is a victory for millions of Muslim Women and called it a true testimony to 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas'.
The passage of the Muslim women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill 2019 is a victory for millions of Muslim Women.
She added the Triple Talaq Bill passed in Rajya Sabha is historic and will help Muslim women who used to be thrown out of their houses after uttering talaq word three times.
"This is going to give gender equality to Muslim women. It will be a deterrent as men will think twice before they take such steps," she said, adding that the Modi govt is the first govt which took the decision on Triple Talaq without thinking of vote bank and appeasement.
She said, "I want to congratulate PM Narendra Modi on the behalf of all the women of our country that he took a big decision for women empowerment without coming under any pressure and got it passed in Parliament and Rajya Sabha."
She added that the Triple Talaq Bill has been a bone of contention between the Narendra Modi govt and opposition since December 2017 and now with the passage of Bill in the Rajya Sabha, Muslim women will get justice in equality.
BJP state president of Mahila Morcha Rajni Sethi said that 'we' as a women feel it as is a historic day for women of the country as Modi govt is committed for the dignity and respect of women of India. She added that the practice of instant divorce by Muslim men will be punishable by jail term of up to three years. The bill should not be seen through a political prism as it a matter of humanity, women empowerment and gender equality. No more Talaq-Talaq-Talaq, she concluded.
