Court challans to continue, no more awareness for traffic violations | Newly amended Motor Vehicle Act-2019 | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 15: Traffic Police to continue with the court challans until the further directions would not come from the State Government while the awareness drive taken up in this regard has come to an end across Jammu. Since the newly amended Motor Vehicle Act-2019 has been passed, the people have reacted in mixed tones as some are appreciating the government move while others are expressing resentment against it. Meanwhile, in Jammu, no such case of hefty penalty on account of traffic violation has been reported as Traffic Police has yet to initiate compound challaning. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Jammu, Joginder Singh told that the awareness part was ended and police personnel would issue Court Challan from Monday. He said that since the newly amended Motor Vehicle Act-2019 has come into force, the 15 days awareness programs held across Jammu to make people aware of the newly amended Motor Vehicle Act-2019 has been over. On being asked that special nakas would be laid down to check the violation of traffic rules, SSP replied that no special naka would be put in place as there were enough nakas to check the violations. "We are waiting for the directions of the State Government as far as the compound challans are concerned till then court challans will be issued to the violators," said SSP Traffic Joginder Singh. |
