KVK Jammu organizes plantation drive

Jammu, Sept 17: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu organized one day awareness cum plantation programme at KVK premise. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among farmers/stakeholders regarding importance of plantation of trees on bunds and boundaries for increasing overall production from same land management unit as well as soil conservation and amelioration for increased productivity. Dr K.S Risam Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu was Chief Guest on the occasion and Swatenter Sharma, State Marketing Manager IFFCO Jammu was Guest of Honour. The programme started with planting of saplings of multipurpose trees species by all the dignitaries in the KVK premises. ATOn the onset of the programme, Dr Rakesh Sharma Sr Scientist and I/c Head KVK Jammu welcomed all the participants. Dr K.S. Risam Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu and Chief Guest advised the farmers and farm women's to plant more and more no of trees on the bunds and boundaries of their farms for increased productivity and mitigating the ill effects of climate change by modifying the microclimate of the local niche area. He also emphasized on importance of maintaining swachta in the adjoining areas and adoption of centrally sponsored schemes of Govt of India. The programme was Programme was also attended by Dr M M S Zamma, Dean FVSc &AH SKUAST-J and large gathering of farmers, farmwomen's, Panch, Sarpanches for different villages of Jammu districts.
