Massive forest fire witnessed in Kishtwar outskirts

Jammu, Sept 19: The massive forest fire incident today reported from outskirts of Kishtwar town as a result of which the populated areas around Katarsama area faces threat from the fire which spread at rapid pace due to strong winds, but due to efforts of locals, fire fighters and the volunteers, the fire was brought under control after several hours, however the people has been asked to keep watch till the things settled down.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the smoke was witnessed by the people in the morning which spread within no time threatening the populated areas that force the people to raise the alarm.
As soon as the villagers raise the alarm, the large number of people from adjoining areas immediately rush to the spot and join the rescue operation beside the matter was also brought into the notice of District Administration and fire service department.
The locals use the drinking water for controlling the fire, but fail to prevent it from spreading to populated areas before the fire tender service officials join the rescue operation.
After the District Administration intervention, the PHE department and NHPC also press the water tankers and fire brigade to service since the fire incident was reported just above the power house of 390 MW Dool-Hasti Power project, however there was no immediate threat to the project site.
As per the officials around one KM forest area, mostly shrubs and some tress reduce to ashes.
