Shrine Board carries out sanitation drive

Katra, Sept 19: As part of the ongoing cleanliness campaign 'Swachhata Hi Seva' all over the country, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in collaboration with the Indian Oil Corporation organised a special sanitation drive covering the Bhawan area, Sanjichhat, Bhairon Complex, Adhkuwari, Tarakote Marg, Banganga and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Kakryal.
The objective of the Shramdaan Divas activity was limiting the use of single use plastic and to collect all types of plastic waste, increasing awareness among the pilgrims, local population and all other stakeholders in regard to alternative paper made utilities.
The cleanliness drive was launched under the supervision of the Area/ Unit Heads in their respective areas of responsibility. The sanitation and other staff of the Shrine Board as well as the pilgrims participated in this cleanliness drive which is in addition to the normal sanitation activities of the Shrine Board.
In the afternoon, a campaign was launched to clean Banganga rivulet in which a large number of staff of the Shrine Board and the pilgrims took part.
Naresh Kumar, SDM, Bhawan supervised the cleanliness drive in the Bhawan area while Vinay Khajuria, ACF of the Shrine Board supervised these activities at Banganga.
It is pertinent to mention that the Shrine Board has formulated a calendar of activities to be undertaken on daily basis upto the culmination of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign on 2 October 2019.
Meanwhile, as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign, an on the spot painting competition was also organised by the Shrine Board at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, today in which 40 students of the Gurukul participated. Vinay Khajuria, ACF; faculty, staff and students of the Gurukul were present on the occasion.
