US continues to treat Kashmir issue as bilateral
9/19/2019 10:14:51 PM
The US and besides its President Donald Trump are with India and they, together, say that the Kashmir issue is an internal problem. Asserting that Kashmir is an internal issue for India, Indian-American lawmaker Ro Khanna who recently joined the Pakistani Congressional Caucus has said that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan needs to cool his heated rhetoric. This statement came after Imran Khan hit out at India telling New Delhi that if left no alternative he may be left with no option but to use nuclear weapons against India. "Kashmir is an internal matter for India's democracy and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan needs to cool his heated rhetoric and not escalate to a war or conflict," Congressman Khanna told members of the Indian-American community during an interaction in Freemont, California, recently.
"Imran Khan's rhetoric of war with India is absolutely ridiculous," Khanna, the two-term Democratic Congressman representing Silicon Valley in the US House of Representatives, was quoted as saying use of nuclear weapons. Which could prove disastrous for both the nations. During the interaction, the Kashmiri-American community appreciated his support in democratic resolution of the conflict and uplift of communities from poverty and terror. Meanwhile, in a tweet earlier this week, Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullahi Omar expressed her concerns over alleged human rights violations in the Kashmir Valley. She urged for an immediate restoration of communication, respect for human rights, democratic norms, and religious freedom and de-escalation.
And it seems that Pakistan has been left angry because of the US support to India. Why should not the US support India when India as a nation has not served as a base for militancy. India does not export terror to any country including Afghanistan. This way the UJS has to support India because Pakistan is on a hit list because it exports terror to India including Jammu and Kashmir. And not only militancy is exported to India but to Afghanistan where the US is imbroigled and wants peace to get restored to Afghanistan so that the US pulls out troops from the land locked by mountains. And that is the reason that the US has refused to mediate on Kashmir which was demanded by Pakistan.
