DIC Kathua organizes awareness programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Violence

Kathua, Sept 19 : With an aim to sensitize children about their rights and protections under various enactments, District Information Centre Kathua today organized an awareness programme on J&K Protection of Children from Sexual Violence Act 2018 in the premises of Gujjar & Bakkerwal Hostel here at Kathua today.
District Health Officer Dr Savita Wazir, District Information Officer Kathua Parshotam Dass, Assistant Warden Govt. Gujjar Bakkerwal Hostel Abdul Rehman , Sonakshi Sharma of Childline and over 150 children of Gujjar & Bakkerwal Hostel were present.
Law Officer Surabhi Abrol of Child Protection Unit, Social Welfare Department who was Resource Person gave brief details regarding rights and penalties provisioned under J&K Protection of Children from Sexual Violence Act 2018. She appealed children to remained vigil and report any abuse to the authorities or can dial tollfree number of Childline 1098 to registered any such complaint.
Dr Savita Wazir also briefed students about various aspect of health, nutritional diet, benefits of healthy lifestyle and personal hygiene for overall development of child personality.
DIO Kathua in his address said that the expert knowledge on the subject will surely help children and go long way in knowing their rights. He thanked Social Welfare Department and Gujjar & Bakkerwal hostel for extending help for the success of the awareness programme.
