DC interacts with Councilors' of Lakhanpur Committee

Kathua, Sept 21: Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer, today chaired a meeting with the President, Vice President and Councillors of Lakhanpur Municipal Committee Lakhanpur.
The objective of the meeting was to assess the demands and problems of the Councillors of the Committee so that necessary measures could be initiated for redressal of the same.
The participants raised several issues pertaining to beautification of Lakhanpur town and the Fort, lights along the NH, repair of roads, playground, up gradation of High School to Higher Secondary School, expansion of PHC, augmentation of PDD and PHE infra, proper use of vacant building of State Taxes department, exploring tourism potential, cattle pond for stray animals and crates for flood affected area.
Regarding condition of roads, DC asked the Project Director, NHAI to send a team to Lakhanpur to get first hand information of the demands raised by peoples` representatives.
He directed the Tehsildar and Patwari of the area to identify a patch of land that can be used as a playfield.
For resolving Power woes, DC informed the Councillors that augmentation of PDD infra will be done under IPD Scheme and as many as 15 transformers will be installed in Lakhanpur soon.
DC also enquired about the activities being carried out under Swachhata Hi Seva campaign at Lakhanpur and directed the EO of the committee to involve school children for generating awareness.
Regarding utilization of vacant building of Sale Taxes department, DC asked for preparing a proposal for shifting of offices operating in rented premises to the unoccupied Sale Taxes building.
DC directed the BDO Keerian-Gandial to identify a land near Lakhanpur town to develop a cattle pond for stray animals.
President of Lakhanpur Committee, Surmu Din, Vice President, Rakesh Sharma, CMO, Dr. Ashok Chaudhary, DEPO, Aruna Sharma, AD FCS & CA, Zakir Hussain, Tehsildar Kathua, Engineers, EO and Councillors were present in the meeting.
