Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Plastic waste: DC to villagers | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 21: As a sequel to 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer, today launched cleanliness drive and participated in plastic waste collection at Nagri and Hiranagar areas of Kathua. The objective of the event was to sensitize the people regarding implementation of restriction on use of Single Use Plastic (SUP) besides significance of cleanliness and hygiene for leading a healthy and prosperous life. Terming public cooperation as imperative for success of the cleanliness mission, the DC urged upon the people especially students to be part of the drive and take it to every household in their vicinities. Meanwhile, a Swachhata Rally by students depicting the message of cleanliness and no plastic use was also organized at Hiranagar. At Pandori village of Nagri, an awareness camp was organized in which DC sensitized the villagers about the 3R's concept for the plastic waste; reducing, reusing and recycling of plastic waste. Earlier, DC visited sports club at Airwan village in Nagri where youth of the village vowed to participate in cleanliness drive besides ensuring their commitment towards reducing plastic use. SDM Hiranagar, Suresh Kumar, Tehsildars, BDOs, students, villagers, volunteers besides concerned officers were present during the campaign. |
