Horticulture department conducts awareness camp at Sangaldan

RAMBAN, Sept 22: Department of Horticulture Ramban organised an awareness camp at Fermote, Sangaldan.
The camp was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer, Mukesh Sharma, Assistant Director Employment, Naresh Kumar Sharma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Gool Sukhbir Singh, Horticulture Development Officer, Gool Mohd Sharief Malik, Sarpanchs and members of Self Help Group UMEED besides other officials and progressive farmers of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, CHO deliberated upon various schemes and initiatives launched by the government for the welfare of the farmers. He advised the fruit growers to form Self Help Group for marketing of their products.
Meanwhile, a demonstration session was also conducted for preparation of Apple Jam for the women participants. The women were asked to from a group of interested women so that department can send them to Jammu for advance training in Art of Fruit and Vegetable Preservation so that they can adopt this as a profession.
AD Employment also gave detailed information regarding PM-SYM, a pension scheme and other social security schemes whereas SDAO Gool discussed about PM Kissan and other flagship programmes launched for the betterment of the farming community.
Earlier, CHO attended a programme held under "Swachhta Hi Seva" and sensitized the participants about the importance of cleanliness. He impressed upon the participants to ensure restriction on Single Use Plastic.
