Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 23: A delegation of All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) today called on Governor SP Malik and discussed several issues of the community.
President AIJMS, Manmohan Singh, Rakesh Tikait, National President Bhartiya Kissan Union were leading the delegation and they thanked Governor for taking the initial steps for abrogation of Art.370 and 35A, and also for granting reservation to people living on International Border.
These changes were very much the need of the situation that has been arising for some time. They took this meeting as an opportunity to discuss several impending Jat issues and raise concern for the farmers of our state.
"In our state, only 3% of our community members hold government jobs with our literacy rate below 15%. Our biradari in J&K involves Hindu, Muslims and Sikh Jats. And with our new status as an equal state with the rest of our country, we fought to get this category. This will benefit our coming generation in cementing their job opportunities for the future", they said. They also discussed some other issues of the community.
