POONCH, Sept 24: Acting on a news report published in Early Times regarding no check on commercial vehicles with registration numbers of Punjab and Haryana, which are openly plying on Poonch-Mendhar route, the ARTO Poonch swung into action and launched a drive against traffic violators.
ARTO Poonch Jugal Sharma taking cognizance of the traffic violations, today seized a truck bearing temporary no JKO2TC 29018 and imposed a heavy fine of Rs 43,000 for breach of rules. Meanwhile, ARTO Poonch appealed people to avoid travelling in non-registered vehicles
He also directed private van operators not to ply their vehicles for carrying school going children to school otherwise a strict action will be taken and heavy fine will be imposed. He also appealed parents to avoid sending their children in private vans. He said that no traffic violations will be tolerated and appealed the public to cooperate. Talking to Early Times, ARTO said, "Two more vehicles were challaned and an amount of Rs 10,000 realized as per new Motor Vehicles Act. I am going to take tough action against traffic violators in addition to educating people about traffic rules." |
