Early Times Report

Reasi, Sept 23: In sheer violation of Motor Vehicle Act, the hundreds of commercial passenger vehicles have been plying from Katra to Shiv Khori in district Reasi without documents and the concerned Traffic Police seems to be in deep slumber by not taking action against traffic violators.
Sources told Early Times that many commercial vehicles (Matador Tata 407) are plying from Katra to Shiv Khori, Katra to Patnitop, Katra to Mansar lake and all other tourist place within 100 Kms in the district without documents of the vehicles.
"Although there are at least 4-5 check posts of traffic police between Katra and Shiv Khori but these vehicles are not checked by them," they said. They alleged that traffic police get commission from these vehicles owner to operate them freely. Astonishingly Minibuses from other districts are plying in Reasi district in violation of Motor Vehicles Department norms. "Where sanctioned capacity of passengers in Minibus vehicles is 12-15 but in these vehicles 20-22 passengers are loaded in violation of traffic rules but concerned authority give slip to these violation," sources said.
Local hailed government for implementation of new Motor Vehicle Act and appealed government to take action against such violators and the traffic officials who allow such offenders to ply their vehicles on these roads without documents.
