Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 23: Though Union as well as Governor led state government has tightened noose around corruptive measures practiced in last seven decades but so far no concrete action has been initiated against the controversial mansion of Farooq Abdullah at Bhatindi, which is allegedly build on state land.
In the last few years, several reports have been published in local as well as national dailies, according to which the palatial mansion constructed by Farooq Abdullah over three Kanals of land in Bhatindi area was state land.
According to one such report, the then Accountant General (Audit), J&K Srinagar in year 2001, had forwarded a copy of the report, received from N. Vittal, the then Central Vigilance Commissioner containing several references of financial impropriety committed by some politicians including former Chief Minister.
The then Accountant General had desired to examine the report and necessary action must be taken over the report, according to which the then Chief Minister had constructed a house in Bathindi, which was on government land.
Moreover, a complaint was forwarded to Prime Minister Office, in the year 2016, in which the complaint Mohammad Sadiq, had alleged that Farooq Abdullah had encroached state land of more than five Kanals under khasra no.6 in Bathindi.
It was also alleged that in the 1998 assembly session of state legislature, one member had raised the issue in the House, following which Dr. Farooq Abdullah got the registry of khasra no.21 of Bathindi. "Registry was manipulated and executed by an unknown person because owner of khasra no.21, Din Mohammad, has denied to have sold any land to Dr. Farooq Abdullah", it was further alleged by the complainant and had appealed to take action against involved revenue officials as well as NC leader.
Though PMO office had directed the then Chief Secretary to initiate enquiry but so far nothing concrete has been done. "On the name of anti-encroachment drives, though administration in various districts of Jammu have been taking action against poor people but it is strange to find that action against big sharks was never initiated", a local said, and pinned hopes on Union government for initiate enquiry and if the allegations would be found correct, the building must be declared a government building and action must be taken against involved people.
