Governing Body reviews functioning of SMVD College of Nursing Kakryal

KAKRYAL, Oct 9: The 36th Governing Body meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here today and took several important decisions for developing this college as a top ranking institution in the field of nursing education.
The GB reviewed the overall functioning of the SMVDCoN. Discussions were also held in connection with the organising of 4th Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the college shortly.
While reviewing to-date status in regard to pursuing of internship by the students of SMVDCoN, the GB emphasised the need for according very high focus on the internships of the students so that they could gain sufficient real job experience and expertise. The meeting also asked for exploring possibilities of arranging internships for the students in the leading health institutions in the country. It is pertinent to mention that the internship of the first batch of the SMVDCoN, which is passing out next year, will commence from January 2020.
The GB meeting chaired by Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board; was attended by Mr. Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Dr. V. Verma, Dean, SMVDU; Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Administrator, SMVDCoN; Dr. J. P. Singh, Senior Consultant, Neuro Surgery, SMVDNSH; and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College.
Other matters that came up for review of the GB meeting, interalia, included starting of M. Sc. Nursing Programme in the college in the identified specialities of Psychiatric Nursing and Medical Surgical Nursing which have wider scope for employment in health care, research projects being undertaken by the students, etc.
The GB also took stock of progress on the upcoming infrastructure of SMVDCoN which is being completed as per envisaged timelines.
