Jammu, Oct 9: After missing the fixed first three year deadline of 2019, the much awaited multi storied parking project at General Bus Stand Jammu has missed another deadline of September this year.
Sources informed Early Times that the proposed multi storied parking which was supposed to reduce traffic congestion and provide much needed parking space to Jammuities by accommodating 1300 cars and will provide access corridor to 80 buses, one taxi stand and an air-conditioned ticket booking office as well as waiting hall for the commuters but ironically inordinate delay in completion of the mega project, the Jammuities have been depriving to avail facilities.
Sources further said that the multi storied parking project was put forth by National Conference -Congress coalition government in 2010-2011 and in month of September, 2014 the then chief minister, Omar Abdullah had laid the foundation stone and announced that the project would be completed within three years.
"Unfortunately, after changing of guard at State level, the new government of BJP-PDP had once again laid foundation stone of the same project in month of October by then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Syeed and then Minister Local Bodies, Dr Nirmal Singh and announced that the same project would be completed in month of April, 2019", said sources while wishing anonymity.
After missing April, 2019 deadline, the executing agency fixed one more deadline of five month and announced that the project would be completed in September, 2019 but ironically the same project is still incomplete.
"However, the project is supposed to connect with six flyover, but the connecting work with flyover is yet not started and hopefully would be initiated soon ", said an official on the condition not to mention here and added that if the work is done on war-footing by the construction agency, hopefully the project handed over to Jammu Development Authority by January, 2019.
