'Alleged dereliction of duty of Traffic Police Officers on Jammu-Srinagar Highway'

Jammu, Oct 14: A high level enquiry committee constituted by government over alleged dereliction of duty by officers of Traffic Police which led to mismanagement on Jammu-Srinagar Highway exonerated all officers from the charges.
According sources, following mismanagement of Traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on 20th and 21 January 2017, a high level enquiry was ordered in 2018, finally after 19 months the committee exonerated the all the officers of charges.
"The enquiry conducted against the then SSP-NHW Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, the then DySP Traffic NHW Safdar Hamid Hassan Samoon and the then DySP Traffic NHW Nihar Ranjan vide Govt order no 148-Home of 2018, dated 05/02/2018 by Ahfadul Mujtaba, IGP Armed Kashmir as Enquiry Officer", sources told Early Times.
"The enquiry report, inter-alia, stated that the event was caused by inclement weather and recommended exoneration of the officers named in the enquiry for their alleged dereliction", sources said, adding that they were neither negligent in performance of their duties nor was there any dereliction of duties.
"The Police Headquarter has concurred with the recommendations of the enquiry officer and same have been examined in the Home Department. With the approval of the competent authority, all the officers were exonerated from the charges regarding lapses/dereliction of duties for mismanagement of traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on 20th and 21st of January 2017, accordingly the enquiry has been closed", they added.
