Eminent scientists deliver lectures on 2nd day in 5th J&K Agriculture Science Congress

Jammu, Oct 15: Eminent scientists from different field of specialization delivered lead lectures & presented their research work on various themes viz; Technological innovations for natural resource management under climate change, Impact of climate change on socio economic aspect & sustainable live stock farming on 2nd day in 5th J&K Agriculture Science Congress at SKUAST-J.
Dr. Praveen Sharma, from HPKVV, Palamapur gave lead lecture on vertical vegetable production & scope of hydroponics. Dr. D. P. Abrol, Dean, FoA, SKUAST-J gave lead lecture on impact of climate change on pollinator. Dr. Narinder Sankhyan from HPKVV, Palamapur gave lead lecture on potential of carbon sequestration in agriculture. Dr. Vivak M. Arya gave presentation on effect of different conservation practices on water quality in the adopted village ponds of north - western Himalayas.
Dr. Ramesh Salgotra, Coordinator, School of Biotechnology presented his work on use of biotechnological tools for producing climate resilient crop varieties. Dr. Manmohan Sharma gave lecture on scope of tissue culture for production of tubers in potato. Dr. Arvind Isher in his presentation informed about the increased incident of diseases in paddy in Pir Panjal region due to climate change. Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. S.K. Singh, Dr. R.C Sharma, Dr. Rama Kant Sharma & many budding scholars delivered their respective presentations on various themes related to climate change. Prof. Surinder K. Gupta was the chairman of the technical session. The proceeding was conducted by Dr. A.P. Singh. Dr. Magdeshwar Sharma and Dr. Gurudev Chand were the rapporteur. Dr.U.C. Sharma, Ex. DDG, ICAR, Prof. Harbans Singh, former Vice Chancellor of SKUAST -J.
