Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 15: Members of Movement for Justice to Refugees of 1947, (MJR-47) today said that under the leadership of MLC Charanjeet Singh Khalsa had called on Governor in 2018 and took up various issues.
The issues taken include establishment of Guru Nanak Chair in University of Jammu, organizing a High Level Interfaith Seminar for all shades of people on the philosophy of Guru Nanak "Sarbat Da Bhalla", preservation of number of Sikh Heritage sites in the state beside others.
They demanded to expedite the process so that the programmes be finally approved and announced by Governor before 12th Nov. 2019, 550th Birth Anniversary Day of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
They also requested that the R&R measures for DP's of 1947 from POJK as recommended in the packages by the state govt. and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs GOI way back in 2014 may please be endorsed in full with recommendation for sanction to Govt. of India as already done only partially in the case of cash-relief for DP's of 1947 & Chamb of 1965-71.
No action has been taken on these recommendations and none of the measures of relief had been implemented till date except that a cash relief of a minisule amount of Rs 5.5 lakh against Rs 30 lakhs as recommended has been give to limited number of DP's families and considerable number of DP's has been left out, they observed, adding, "It will be another generous act on the occasion of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji to give relief and justice to the 15 lakhs suffering humanity of DP's of 1947 waiting for relief and justice for the last 72 years since 1947.
