Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today chaired a meeting to review the performance of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) at Corporate Headquarter, J&K Bank, Srinagar.
In the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on a slew of issues ranging from updated position of land allotments to RSETIs, construction of RSETI premises finalization of lease deed with the Deputy Commissioners by 30th November without fail.
Hailing the role and efforts of RSETIs in training the youth, the Secretary said, "It's commendable that youth are getting training and placement through RSETIs." However, "the process doesn't end here," she added, emphasizing that these youth should be self-dependent and self-reliant in terms of livelihood.
"Training is only a part of the programme," asserted Nanda, adding, "The real motive is to make the youth equipped with market-centric skill development programme and consequently make them self-sufficient."
The Secretary also lauded the efforts of J&K Bank and SBI for their role in facilitating the training programme.
She also underscored the need introducing Aadhar-based biometric attendance in every training centre, besides directing the concerned to organize awareness camps.
The Secretary laid special emphasis on providing loans under Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana scheme so that the youth are encouraged to establish their own units to eradicate unemployment in the state.
Pertinent to mention, as many as 62591 candidates have been trained cumulatively up to 31 August, 2019 out of which 42752 candidates have been already placed in various business ventures with credit linkage extended to as many as 19285 candidates and 23467 candidates have set up their business units under self-finance.
