Kumar reviews progress of major H&ME projects in JK

SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today reviewed the progress of works of major projects of the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department being executed by various agencies in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner Health Atal Dulloo, MD Jammu Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) M Raju, Managing Director Jammu & Kashmir Police Housing Corporation (JKPHC) Syed Ahfadul Mujtaba, Managing Director Jammu & Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB) Tasaduq Jeelani, Director Coordination New Medical Colleges Dr Yashpal Sharma, Director Health Services Jammu Dr Samir Mattoo, senior officers of H&ME department and officers of executing agencies. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the present status of the works for all major projects that have been undertaken by these executing agencies. The officers of the agencies apprised the meeting about the present status of the projects through a detailed presentation. The projects that are being executed by JKPCC includes construction of GMC Anantnag and Baramulla, DH Shopian, SDH Sopore, Trauma Hospital Bijbehara, SDH Charare-e-Sharief, Budgam, 100 Bedded IPD Block at Kot Bhalwal Jammu, Additional boys hostel at GMC Jammu, 100 Bedded Additional Block at DH Kishtwar and few others. Project wise discussion was held on present status of these projects with expected time of completion of all related works.
MD JKPCC briefed the Advisor about the reasons of delay in some projects which are running behind the given completion dates. The Advisor asked JKPCC to speed up the works and remove the bottlenecks that are hindering the pace of the works.
Similarly, Jammu & Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB) is executing the projects of 100 Bedded MCH at Kangan Ganderbal, 50 Bedded Hospital at Chanpora Srinagar, 100 Bedded Hospital at SDH Gandoh Doda, Nursing College Anantnag, Additional Block at JLNM Hospital Srinagar, IPD Block at DH Pulwama, DH Bandipora and others.
MD JKHB informed the meeting about the stage of works of these projects and said that some of the projects are complete and ready for inauguration and few more are at completion stage. He assured the meeting that all required work force will be put to work for completion of the works at these sites.
The other projects of H&ME Department which are being handled by JKPHC were also taken up for the discussion during the meeting. The important projects include construction of Nursing College Sopore, Nursing College Kishtwar, MCH Kulgam, PHC Khag, Drug Ware House at Baramulla, Drug Ware House at Kathua, 25 Bedded SDH at Padder Atholi in Kishtwar, PHC Utterbeni and IPD Block at SDH Bijbehara.
Officers from JKPHC apprised the Advisor about the stage of projects and said that works are going on in full swing at these important projects.
Addressing the officers of these executing agencies, the Advisor asked them for gearing up their men and machinery so that desired work speed can be maintained for achieving the results on the ground. He said that Central Government is closely monitoring these projects and it is our job to give focused attention in completing the same.
The Advisor asked the senior officers of the agencies to personally visit the projects they are handling so that the issues be resolved on the ground and engineers and other staff be motivated to do their best. He also asked for compiling a list of projects that are completed so that same are inaugurated and dedicated to the people at an earliest.
He asked the concerned officers to submit the progress report regarding the status of work done on all the projects on regular basis.
