Chinar Art foundation organizes awareness camp

Jammu, Oct 16: With the object of cultivating and imbibing the sense of appropriate disposal of 'Waste' among the masses, an 'Awareness Camp', was organized by Chinar Art Foundation, Jammu (Regd.) in collaboration with Abhay Higher Secondary School, Muthi, Jammu. The function was attended by the Principal and Staff members of the School, Civil Society members and social activists. Kusum Dhar, President of the Chinar Art Foundation (CAF), a Non-Profitable Organization, delivered the "Welcome Address'; and gave an appraisal of the current engagements and activities of CAF.
In his key-note address, Pran Pandit, retired Superintendant of Police, a social Activist and Chief Patron of Chinar Art Foundation, dwelt at length on 'Scenario of Waste Management', types of 'Waste', 'Waste Management-its importance and benefits', and, 'Solutions for management of Waste'; and read out a poem 'Wyeth ki wytha' (the agony of River Jhelum), in context of the theme, which enthralled the audience.
The main attraction of the function was active participation of the wards in the debate on the theme of "Essence and importance of Waste-Management for eco-friendly environment"; and Vivek Koul, student of class XI, Sumrit Saproo, student of class X, Sohani Kumari, student of class IX, Vishal Pandita student of class XI and Manish Kumar, student of class X, were adjudged first, second, third, fourth and fifth respectively in order of merit by the adjudicators.
Ravinder Raina, Advocate, President All State Kashmiri Pandits (ASKPC), a renowned social activist, was the Chief Guest of the function with Avtar Bhat, senior Journalist, a founder member and Patron of CAF, J.K Raina, Chairman Abhay Higher Secondary School (AHSC) Muthi, Surinder Tickoo, Vice- President Prem Sangeet Niketan (PSN) and Kiran Raina, Principal (AHSC) as Guests of Honor.
Prominent among those who attended the function were Bharti Koul of Vomedh theatre group and Sachin Dhar, Secretary, Prem Sangeet Niketan. The 'Certificates of Participation' and Mementos were distributed among the participating students of the debate by the Chief Guest amidst thunderous applauses.
Rajesh Khar, Secretary of CAF delivered the 'Vote of thanks' and the proceedings of the function were conducted by Vijay Wali in a most literal and professional manner.
Those who participated included Virender Sumbly, Ritu Mehra, Kundan Paras besides other members of Chinar Art foundation, Jammu.
