`Sajjad Lone needs a dynamic PRO to keep him in news'
Can a politician survive without publicity?

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Politicians and media are inseparable. The detained National Conference patron and working Chairman Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah proved it by making it to the front pages very often even during detention.
Omar was in news again a few days ago when his two sons called on him.
Similarly the newspapers found it difficult to ignore Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) founder and former Chief Minister, Mahbooba Mufti. She too was seen on the front pages several times. Her daughter Iltija Mufti issued several statements talked to national and international media and even operated her twitter handle to keep Mehbooba in the news.
A National Conference delegation led by provincial president for Jammu, Devender Singh Rana called on the incarcerated leaders and it became big news although it won the party some ridicule as well.
Similarly the PDP infighting ahead of their proposed meeting with their detained president, Mehbooba Mufti was also carried on front pages. It seems, the PDP has abandoned the idea of meeting incarcerated Mehbooba for the time being.
The CPI (M) leader, Yusuf Tarigami was seen on the front pages of national dailies when his party got him released through judicial intervention.
A thorough scan of local newspapers reflects that the Peoples Conference chairman, Sajjad Ghani Lone happens to be the only leader who made no news ever since he was detained after revocation of Article 35 A and Article 370 of the Indian constitution on August 5. These articles, it needs to be mentioned here, conferred special status on the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sajjad Lone, for some time, was the darling of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He was more seen and recognised as a BJP man rather than Peoples Conference chairman. A number of PDP leaders deserted their party to join Lone when he was projected as a potential candidate for making it to the Chief Ministerial berth with BJP support.
Close relatives, of course not his separatist brother Bilal Ghani Lone must have called on him but the local press either did not carry the news deliberately or ignored it at Sajjad's behest?
Whatever the reasons Sajajd desperately needs a dynamic PRO. A politician cannot survive without publicity especially in this state and Lone knows it better!
