Silver jari silk Sarees displayed in jewellery boxes

Jammu, Oct 18: Over 70 craftsmen weavers from across the country are showcasing their skills at Silk India Exhibition at Kala Kendra in Vikram Chowk here.
The weavers in this exhibition have displayed their remarkable skills and the Silk Sarees of Silver Jari have been displayed in jewellery boxes.
Organiser of the exhibition T. Abhinand told reporters that the exhibition has been organised to give an opportunity to the craftsmen weavers to display their art works and get proper price and recognition for their products.
Visitors to the exhibition are getting glimpses of extraordinary works by the craftsmen weavers which are really very attractive.
One such craftsman, Ajeet Sharma who travelled all the way from Kerala and has brought with him Kerala Cotton Sarees with hand painting on them.
He has shown culture of Kerala and glimpses of rural India on these Sarees. Sharma has also showcased Jamdani work on Sarees he has brought with him.
Another craftsman, Santosh Singh who came from Banaras has brought with him hand Painting Dress Materials.
He has displayed rural people of Rajasthan desert with camels in his hand painting on Sarees.
Apart from all this, face impressions of Lord Krishana and Buddha have also been displayed over the Sarees which Santosh has brought with him.
Rana Kanjivaram, craftsman from Kanchipuram has brought with him Real Silver Jari Sarees beautifully displayed in jewellery boxes. Such Sarees involve highly skilled miniature works and take about six months to complete and are priced at Rs 180000 per Saree. Rana informed that entire family remains occupied in making these Sarees. T. Abhinand said the exhibition is getting good public response and footfall is increasing alarmingly with every passing day.
