Jammu, Oct 18: To mark the 90th birth anniversary of eminent Gandhian Didi Nirmala Deshpande, Gandhi Global Family J&K in collaboration with Lawrence Public School organised a programme in the school premises. The programme started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by GGF Vice President Padmashri Dr S.P. Varma, Prof. Nazia Latiffi, Prof. Manisha, Pradeep Kumar & Shivani Joshi. Rich floral tributes were paid to Didi Nirmala Deshpande by the members of Gandhi Global Family, students & staff of the school. Prominent members of the Gandhi Global Family spoke in detail about the selfless life of Didi Nirmala Deshpande & how she propagated the Gandhian ideology of peace & non-violence. Prof. Nazia latiffi & Prof. Manisha were awarded Didi Nirmala Deshpande 2019 Award by Dr. S.P. Varma.
for their contributions towards promoting her peace messages in our society. In his address Dr. S.P. Varma highlighted the intrinsic relationship between Didi Nirmala Deshpande & the people of Jammu and Kashmir. After the unrest in the State in 1990, she organised numerous peace marches where large number of local people participated and hence it resulted in brining normalcy in the region. |
