JKFFA pays tributes to martyr Hav Saroop Singh

JAMMU, Oct 21: To remember Martyr Hav Saroop Singh, who laid down his life while fighting Chinese aggression in 1962, the J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) on Monday organised a programme at Head office of the association at Dogra Shaurya Sthal, Amphalla, here.
The function was organized under the guidance of the Chairman, Ved Gandotra, Vice Chairman, Rajiv Mahajan and President R.C Puri of the Association.
Davinder Singh and Amrik Singh, the sons of Hav Saroop Singh and great granddaughter Japneet Kour were also present on the occasion.
Devinder Singh elder son of Hav Saroop Singh highlighting the martyrdom of his father throwing light over Hav Saroop life history and said that Hav. Saroop Singh fought the Chinese forces at Chushal sector of Ladakh region in J&K State, in 1962 War.
The members, said when the Indian forces fell short of ammunition, Saroop Singh asked his colleagues to leave the post and presented him-self to fight alone.
They added that Saroop Singh fought the Chinese Army alone for seven hours before he got Martyrdom.
He was decorated with Mahavir Chakra posthumously. The members appealed to all the fellow Indian citizens, especially the political leadership and the bureaucracy to adopt honesty and shun lust for money, which was the main reason for backwardness and poverty in India.
They also asked them to work honestly for a prosperous and happiness for every person living in the country.
They also asked the youth to work hard like freedom fighters and the martyrs and follow their path and sacrifice and dedication, so that every citizen of nation is felt proud.
The prominent persons present were Th. Karnail Chand, Rajinder Singh, Brij Mehra, J.J Singh, Kamal Sharma, Bharat Gandhi (Ex MLA Ramban).
