Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 21: On June 9, 2017, when the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had laid the foundation stone of the 'Disneyland' project in the presence of former Deputy Chief and former Minister for Forests it was announced by all the leaders that the project would be completed within a year's time.
28 months have been passed after foundation stone of the dream project was laid but the same is appeared on the papers because except laying foundation stone nothing has been done so far.
The then Chief Minister had announced to spend as much as Rs 100 crore for various facilities in the catchment areas to develop this part on the pattern of EsselWorld - the country's largest amusement park in Mumbai.
The foundation stone installed at the banks of the Ranjit Sagar lake in the Purthu catchment at Basohli was completely submerged in the lake some months back.
Credible sources said the project has been abandoned by the then previous PDP-BJP government due to failure of the BJP ministers in the previous regime, who were more concerned about their own petty personal interests.
As per reports dream project, part of the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, was to be executed by the newly created Basohli Bani Development Authority (BBDA) to attract tourists from across the country.
Sources said the project was announced without applying mind and understanding its feasibility. It was just an announcement. The catchment area, where the foundation stone was laid, was submerged in the lake water some months back.
