| BBIA resents proposed power tariff hike by PDD | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 22: An urgent meeting of Bari Brahmana Industries Association Jammu was held today under Chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Tarun Singla, Sr. Vice President, Ajay Langer Vice President, to discuss the issue regarding the unwarranted proposed 15 to 20% hike Power Tariff and 20 to 35 % Hike in Fixed Charges in Domestic, Industrial, Agriculture and other sector as per the petition filed by Power Development Department to JKSERC for the year 2019-20.
The Members present in the meeting shown raised serious concern in respect of the proposed Power Tariff Hike in spite of the fact that the Power Development Department has failed to control the Transmission Losses resulting huge financial losses to the Govt. PDD Department also failed to implement the directives of JKSERC for the 100% Metering whereas as per the proposed petition only 55.34% Metering done resulting reported Transmission Losses for the year 2018-19 is 49.85% against the Losses of 25% as approved by the J&KSERC as the heavy Transmission Losses is the major factor of Power theft as the Department is failed to control the Transmission Losses and trying to put the burden on the Common People and the Industrial Sector of the State in spite of fact that the T&D Losses in the Industrial Areas is 5 to 8% which is much less than the National Average of Transmission Losses. |
