DDC reviews progress on Devika development project

UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: District Development Commissioner, Dr Piyush Singla today reviewed the progress on Pollution abatement of river Devika and Tawi under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP here at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of executing agencies and officers of line departments.
The DDC reviewed the finalization of IEC action plan, which include sensitization and awareness of general public to preserve the sanctity of Holy river Devika, Development of holy river Devika as state of art project, Bring about the behavioral change in the general masses towards sanitation of holy river and town and use of biodegradable material instead of plastic , Finalization of Devika cleanliness plan.
While reviewing the progress of Devika project, the DDC asked the executing agencies to expedite the execution of the prestigious project and meet the target of laying of sewage pipes at an average of 8 kilometer per month. A specific format designated for monitoring of daily progress was shared with executing agencies and they were asked to submit the same on daily basis.
The ADDC was designated as Nodal Officer for IEC activities and was asked to plan the activities in the catchment area of project to aware the public about the project and segregation of waste and use of jute bags .It was also decided that reverse vending machine will be installed for crushing of plastic bottles.
The Executive Engineer UEED was asked to station at Udhampur for two days in a week and submit the report to DDC office.
The DDC stressed on adherence of timeline for completion of this prestigious project. He directed the concerned authorities to display the signboards and hoardings on the construction site so that ongoing work can be identified and monitored.
He further asked the concerned to submit detailed pert chart for evaluation and monitoring of the project on regular basis. Directions were issued to executing agencies to gear up men and machinery for effective and timely completion of the prestigious project.
