Magistrates, police sensitised about assigned duties

RAJOURI, Oct 22: Sector Magistrates and Zonal Police Sector Officers for Block Development Council elections were today sensitised about their assigned duties here at a meeting chaired by District Panchayat Election officer, Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of police Yougal Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh, Additional SP Liyaqat Chowdary, Deputy District Election officer Rizwan Asger.
The key points discussed at the meeting included maintenance of law and order, physical verification of polling stations, transportation of the election material, safe dispatch of election material after counting, hourly monitoring of poll day reporting etc.
The DPEO asked the officers to be extra cautious about their duties and perform their job in a dedicated manner. He said that the coordination among the zonal magistrates and zonal sectoral officers is a must for the impartial and fair conduct of elections. He stressed upon the concerned officers to put in place extra efforts and work in a mission mode to ensure that the elections are conducted in a smooth, fair and hassle free manner.
Earlier, the ADC informed that 2687 electors of 19 blocks of the district would participate in the BDC elections to elect block chairpersons. It was also informed that the polling parties would move from the collection and dispatch centre on October 23,2019 at 10 A.M. He added that the counting of the votes polled during election shall be done on the same day i.e on 24th october,2019 after 3 P.M.
Senior Superintendent of police said that elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of voters and polling staff during the elections. He asked the zonal police officers to work in coordination to maintain law and order on the day of election so that polling is held without any fear.
