Jammu, Oct 22 The three days Jammu University Sports Fest-2019 commenced today at the University Sports Stadium after it was declared open by the Chief Guest on the occasion Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu in the presence of large number of gathering of players, officials, students of the University and people from the civil society. After unfurling of the University Flag and declaration of the Sports Fest-2019 open by the Vice Chancellor, the University Campus was mesmerized with an impressive procession in which all the participants and officials of the Sports Fest as well as invited guests also took part.
An spellbound performance was presented by the players of the Gatka teams under the guidance of S.Amarjit Singh, which was appreciated by all the guests and participants present on the occasion.
In "Sports Fest - 2019", under the banner of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, various games like Dangal, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Athletics, Gatka, Yoga and Boxing shall be played. The main idea to promote these games is to provide a platform to the rural/traditional games which could not be placed alongside other mainstream games due to lack of knowledge of game or lack of promotion. The participants in these games will be the semi-finalist teams of the Inter-Collegiate tournaments 2019-20 from the affiliatedColleges and P.G Departments of the University of Jammu.
