Udhampur admin braces up to launch project Jeevika for water conservation

UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: District administration Uhdampur is going to start project Jeevika to increase the assured irrigation of Agriculture land and conservation of water to enhance the livelihood of farmers. The project Jeevika was conceptualized here at a meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla and attended by officers of Agriculture , Rural Development, Forest , Irrigation and Flood Control , Horticulture and Sericulture departments. The project primarily envisages water conservation to benefit small and marginal farmers of the district in the times to come. Under the project Jeevika all the departments would take up works for conservation of water in convergence with MGNREGA, PMKSVY and Back to Village programme to achieve maximum outcome of the fund utilization under existing schemes.
The DDC stressed upon activities like construction of ponds, drip irrigation, Vermi compost, Mushroom production where poorest of poor can be benefited their livelihood. He asked all the concerned to start works on priority to benefit the farmers.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, DFO, ACD, PO IWMP, Chief Horticulture Officer, Xen Flood Control, Ground water, Xen REW, AEEs and other officers of various departments were present in the meeting.
