| Workshop of Kathak Dance conducted at IMFA | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 23: A day long Kathak Workshop was conducted at the Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu Institute at the institute premises. Noted Kathak maestro Pt Jai Kishan Maharaj and his son Pt Tribhuwan Maharaj along with Maharaj's disciples conducted the workshop with the students and staff of the institute .
The students of Music Department were immensely benefitted from the demonstrated tips of the intricacies of Kathak with the emphasis on the Mudras, expressiveness, Rasas and dramatization.
Earlier, Prof Satnam Kour formally welcomed Pt Jai Kishan Maharaj and Pt Tribhuwan Maharaj and presented flower bouquets. The Kathak experts were felicitated by presenting shawls during the workshop.
Pt Jai Kishan Maharaj is the son and disciple of Pt Briju Maharaj, a world class Kathak master and belongs to Kalka- Bindadin Kathak Gharana of Lucknow Gharana.
Kathak exponents will give a performance tomorrow at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu at 3.00 Pm as a part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of University of Jammu. |
