Over 1000 JKIDFC funded projects to be completed by March 2020

JAMMU, Nov 8: As many as 1077 languishing projects financed under J&K Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (JKIDFC) and being executed by various departments, are expected to complete by March, 2020.
The information was given at a high level meeting held today here under the chairmanship of Financial Commissioner (Finance), Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Animal & Sheep Husbandary, Dr.Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary Planning, Development & Monitoring Department, Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary Forest, Ecology and Environment, Manoj Kumar Dwevedi, Commissioner Secretary PHE, A.K Sahu, Secretary Rural Development, Sheetal Nanda, Secretary Higher Education, Talat Parvez, Secretary Technical Education, Zubair Ahmad, Director General Youth Services & Sports, Dr.Saleem-ur-Rehman, Executive Director JKIDFC, Shameem Ahmad Wani and many other high ranking officers and officials from different departments.
Dr Mehta, who is also Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of the corporation, directed the departments to furnish details of projects to be completed up to March next year within one day. He insisted on providing photographs signifying the physical progress of each ongoing project to the corporation.
The CMD stressed on making timely payments to the completed projects for achieving maximum progress. He insisted on making physical verification of the ongoing projects to correlate it with the commitments made by the departments. He asked the participants to dedicate the completed projects to people soon after their completion.
Dr Mehta also advised the officials to accelerate the pace of work to meet the committed deadline of March 2020. He asked them to simplify the modalities so that work on each project goes on smoothly. Further, he called for reports about under-achieving or poor performance of some departments.
The meeting was informed that out of about 800 projects of Public Health Engineering Department, 422 projects would be completed by March 2020. It was further revealed that Power Development Department would complete around 165 projects till that time. Public Works Department committed to complete some 170 projects including 65 bridges till March next year. Similarly, Youth Services committed to deliver 77 projects, Health department 55 projects, Irrigation department 59, Technical Education 20 projects, while Housing and Industries departments assured to complete 48 each projects till March 2020.
It is pertinent to mention here that around 2534 languishing projects worth Rs 6654 crore have been financed under JKIDFC by the J&K government to fast track their completion. These projects are believed to be of great public importance and once completed would create immense changes in easing the day to day lives of general public.
