Jammu, Nov 8: On the invitation of Chief Justice, J&K High Court, Gita Mittal, office bearers of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBAJ) called on her and discussed the issues of lawyers, who have been observing indefinite strike for the last few days.
Abhinav Sharma President, Rohit Bhagat, Vice President, Abhishek Wazir General Secretary, Pardeep Majotra Joint Secretary & Sushant Samnotra Treasurer along with senior advocates held a detailed deliberation in presence of Ld. Advocate General Mr. D.C. Raina, Sr. Adv.
In the meeting which lasted for about one & half hours, Two issues i.e. shifting of powers of registration of documents from Judicial Magistrate to the Revenue authorities and proposed shifting of J&K High Court Complex from Janipur to Raika were discussed, as was mandated by the resolution of General House of JKHCBAJ held on 1/11/2019.
It is pertinent to mention herein that JKHCBAJ is on indefinite strike on these two issues since 01-11-2019 the Advocates abstained work in all the courts including J&K High Court, District Courts, Subordinate Courts and all other Tribunals including Armed Forces Tribunal, Revenue Courts.
During the detailed discussions, the senior members of the Bar and office bearers informed the Chief Justice about the difficulties and consequences being faced by the public as well as lawyers fraternity on account of shifting of registration work outside the purview of the judiciary/ court complex.
The members of the Bar and office bearers also opposed shifting of the High Court complex from Janipur Jammu to Raika. The senior members present in the meeting projected their individual view points in the interest of the members of the Bar in general and junior members of the Bar in particular so that they are not deprived of their livelihood and their sustainability which they are getting from the registration work.
The Chief Justice assured the members that genuine grievances of the lawyers fraternity and particularly young lawyers will be seriously and effectively considered and also informed that as on date there is no formal decision of shifting of the J&K High Court complex from Janipur to Raika.
After threadbare discussions it was decided that the 2nd round of meeting was proposed to be held after the four non working days in the J&K High Court, in as much as from 09-11-2019 to 12-11-2019, J&K High Court is closed and next meeting is expected to be held on 13-11-2019, in order to discuss the further course of action.

After discussion the lawyers made it clear that there is no change in indefinite agitation of the Bar which will continue till the general demands are fulfilled and JKHCBAJ is thankful to the sister Bars for their unflinching support on these genuine issues/ demands i.e. Bar Association,Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Hiranagar, Akhnoor, Ramban, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Reasi, Katra, Bhaderwah , Rajouri & Poonch.
