11/11/2019 9:29:14 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 11: The Community Health Centre (CHC) in Tehsil Jourian in Sub Division of Akhnoor District Jammu lacks basic facilities, resulting in huge inconveniences to the patients.
Residents of Jourian tehsil said, there are often casualties are reported due to cross-border firing and shelling in the area and due to lack of emergency medical facilities, the patients are referred to either Sub division Hospital Aknhoor or to GMC Hospital, Jammu. The tehsil is located 46 km from Jammu and 19 kilometers from sub division Akhnoor.
"Due to shelling and natural calamities, the people often receive injuries and lose their limbs. But there are no facilities in the CHC which adds woes to the residents living in the border area," Baba Bharti, Indu Bhushan Bali a local resident told Early Times. The tall claims of the Health Department of providing adequate facilities in border hospitals have proved a hoax. The residents have expressed resentment over what they call official apathy. "Due to non-availability of facilities and special doctors, the hospital regularly refers the patients to Jammu for treatment," Bharti said.
Expressing displeasure over Health Department's apathy, he said there is no orthopaedic doctor in the hospital due to which patients have to travel to longer distance for treatment. "There is no Digital X-ray machine, no generator in the hospital," he said. "We appeal the authorities to provide basic facilities necessary for a health center," he demanded. "Whenever, there is any untoward incident the injured are taken to this community health center. There is no machinery in the community health center to take care of patients," he said. Locals further said people from far-off places visit the hospital for treatment but here they get disappointed.
