Form Advisory Councils for J&K UT: Citizens' Forum
11/11/2019 9:48:29 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 11: Urging the Prime Minister to form two separate Advisory Councils for Kashmir and Jammu regions, the Citizens' Forum said that it is important to fill the advisory lot under the Lt Governor.
Forum said that from the development scenario of Jammu region it is amply clear that several projects in Jammu region have been ignored by all successive governments. The selection of advisory members should be other than political leaders as people of Jammu have seen no tangible performance done by any of them for the last many years.
Common citizen is fed up with promises and ill- conceived and half- done projects taking decades of time and wastage of funds. We have noticed for Jammu region it takes 10 years to sanction a big project and then another 10 years to complete, still left half-completed in between, because there was no body to check the performance and accountability.
R K Chadha, president of the Forum said Prime Minister announced AIIMS in 2015 and Rs. 2000 crores were sanctioned but not a single penny spent till date.
He said, "We are not against any political party or leaders, as they are elected by the people and will again be elected. We will welcome them but at present during Governors rule, give a chance to the educated, high ranking well-meaning retired officers selected from different districts of both regions to form separate Advisory Councils. They know Government workings."
Signatory to the statement included are ADGP Rtd S S Wazir, Dr Mrs Ravinder Madan, KB Jandyal former PSC Member, Dr Arun Gupta (MIER), Arun Sharma, Prem Gupta IGP Rtd, R K Handa, SP Sharma senior journalist, Shiban Khaibri, Deepak Handa and others.
