| ABVP stages dharna outside Civil Sectt; raises charter of demands | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 12: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Mahanagar began its dharna outside Civil Secretariat under the leadership Prateek Raina Jammu city secretary ABVP Jammu. The dharna was organized for the purpose of highlighting various pending demands in which the rollback of semester system from the UG courses in Jammu Kashmir, 50000 jobs promise to be fulfilled by the government, filling of vacant posts in education sector, laws for preventing commercialization and privatization of education, AIIMS work to be started, change of name of SKAUST to Jammu Kashmir Agriculture University, check and sit to be framed on land selection and building development of central university Jammu/Kashmir, IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu, to put a stop on political intervention in the education institutes, introduction of Dogri and Sanskrit as mandatory subjects in order to develop the regional and traditional language besides other issues.
Raina highlighted 43 such demands in which he said that ABVP has been raising the demands of the students from time to time and has also submitted memorandum for the same but no action has been taken by the successive governments adding that this is the reason that ABVP has been forced to come on roads for the cause of students.
ABVP activists, who had gathered outside Civil Secretariat, raised slogans in favour of their demands and highlighted the corrupt practices in the education sector and the political intervention in the appointment process in colleges and university. |
