Aspirants sleep on streets to beat 2 hours deadline for submission of applications
BSF makes mess of recruitment process

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 12: Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) inviting applications from candidates for nearly 500 posts in both the paramilitary forces has led to hundreds of aspirants from far-flung areas of Jammu region reaching Paloura here to submit the application forms for the recruitment in these elite forces.
The enthusiasm shown by the youth, including young boys and girls, to submit their application depicts their desire to serve the nation and dedicate their life for the cause of new India.
The Border Security Force is an elite force which has been guarding our borders for the past so many decades. The BSF has been instrumental in thwarting the infiltration bids by the terrorists and is stood like a rock to counter the nefarious designs of the enemy country. Entire nation is indebted to the sacrifices rendered by the BSF jawans and officers in the line of duty.
Unfortunately, the BSF administration has made a mess of the ongoing recruitment process in Jammu. The application forms are received just for two hours in the morning between 6 am to 8 am leaving hundreds of aspirants high and dry. Many aspirants from far off areas are unable to submit these forms as they cannot reach Jammu city in the early hours. These days one can find these youth filled with spirit of nationalism and the desire to serve the country sleeping on streets outside the BSF office at Paloura in the night with a hope that they would be able to submit their application next day. Maximum youth are from the families which are not financially sound and they cannot afford boarding and lodging charges in Jammu city.
The number of job aspirants swelling during the past few days has led to the law enforcing agencies resorting to lathicharge to maintain law and order.
"It is really sad to see the youth who want to become soldiers being treated shabbily and facing so many hardships just to submit their forms. This depicts the failure of the BSF administration to streamline the process," said an observer.
He said, "It hurts when you see young boys and girls struggling on the streets of Jammu. The BSF administration needs to pay a heed towards the increasing number of aspirants and should streamline the process of receiving the application forms."
The observer said that the casual approach of the people at the helm is making youth suffer and in the process many deserving could be left out.
Neeraj Sharma, PRO BSF Paloura Jammu, when contacted said that the BSF cannot provide accommodation to the candidates during recruitment rallies. "Though we provided them an opportunity, and little bit relaxation beyond fixed time is also being given to the candidates appearing for recruitment," he said.
