Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 13: A poor teenager boy reportedly purchased a smart-phone on instalments but an official of Jammu and Kashmir police kept it forcibly, with clear threatening instructions to the boy that if he would disclose it to anyone, he would be framed in a false case.
Sources informed Early Times that in Kathua, a teenager boy was arrested by police on the complaint of a girl's family. "The girl and boy are reportedly from the same community and are on talking terms. Due to some incident, the family members of the girl lodged a complaint against the boy at a police station in Kathua around a week back", sources said, adding that the police arrested the boy and started investigation.
"During the investigation the boy produced enough evidences, proving his innocence after which both the families entered into a deal, negotiated by the Police", sources said, adding that after a formal agreement, the case was settled down but for the poor teenager boy, the ordeal was yet to end.
The police had confiscated the smart-phone of the boy, which he had reportedly purchased on instalments. "Adopting typical modus operandi of grabbing something from the victims, a police official initially levelled allegations against the boy that the smart-phone was actually stolen by him as the poor boy was not in a financially condition to own such phone", sources said, adding that when the boy claimed that he had purchased the phone on instalments, the police official asked him to produce the bill-voucher and packing box of the smart-phone.
Sources further disclosed that when the boy produced the same, police official grab the box also to erase all evidences of purchasing of the smart-phone. "It was reported that the poor boy has been working in a small shop and had purchased phone to the tune of over Rs. 20,000 on instalments and had only paid few instalments", sources said, adding that the police official had threatened the boy that he would be framed in some false case, if he would disclose the same to anyone.
