High profile women protest against abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A
11/13/2019 9:57:23 PM
Mennfolk of the Kashmir centric parties left it women and that too high profile women, to protest against the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A. National Conference president Farooq Abdullah's sister and daughter were among several high-profile women detained as they attempted to hold a demonstration in central city against abrogation of Article 370 and detention of political leaders. Abdullah's sister Suraiya Mattoo and his daughter Safiya Abdullah Khan, who is also the sister of ex-CM Omar Abdullah, were among those detained. Suraiya carried a placard that read "Release all detainees", while Safiya held a placard reading "Why downgrade Jammu & Kashmir state" as they were detained by police and paramilitary personnenell.
The NC in a statement said the detentions reflected "sad state of affairs". Wearing black arm bands and holding placards, the women protesters were not allowed by the security personnel to assemble and asked to disperse peacefully. However, the protesters refused to disperse and tried to stage a sit-in. A contingent of women CRPF personnel along with the personnel of the state police detained the protesters. The protest was held even as Section 144, prohibiting unauthorised gathering of four or more persons, remained imposed in Srinagar. These days the valke of Kashmir is full of anger against abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A. And Pakistan taken full advantage of the derailment of peace ion Kashmir.
On one side Pakistan has been helping militants to cross into Kashmir for raising the level of violence. And on the other hand violations of ceasefire agreement has been galore during the last three months and during the ceasefire violations groups of militants are pushed into Kashmir by the Pakistan Army. This indicates that Pakistan has been exporting terror to India. And the same Islamabad favours bilateral talks for resolving the Kashmir and other issues but So far Pakistan does not end export of terror talks and terror could not coexist. Hence the race is among various political parties especially the NC, the PDP and the Congress and other regional parties to woo voters in the name of their struggle for restoration of the special status and the separate state subject laws. Peace may hang fire till the state subject law and special status are restored. How far the Kashmir centric parties take their fight on the ground that too with security forces that have been deployed in strength in Kashmir.
