Katra, Nov 13: The School of Languages & Literature (SoLL), in collaboration with the School of Philosophy & Culture (SoPC) celebrated the National Education Day at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the great freedom fighter, eminent educationist and the first Union Minister of Education.
At the onset, Dr. Amitabh V. Dwivedi and Dr. Anil Tiwari, the Coordinators of the event, and Heads, SoLL & SoPC respectively, welcomed Prof. D. Mukhopadhyay, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. Prof. Mukhopadhyay gave an insightful talk on the meaning and relevance of education in one's life, quoting examples and anecdotes from Scriptures, History, Economics and Social Science. He encapsulated that the aim of education is to make a better human being. The talk was attended by the students and the faculty members of the university. The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Anurag Kumar, Senior Faculty, School of Languages & Literature.
