Div Com reviews winter preparedness in Ramban, Doda, inspects shelter sheds

RAMBAN, Nov 13: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, today conducted an extensive tour of Ramban besides chairing an officers meeting to review winter preparedness regarding stock and supply position of essential commodities and related services in Ramban and Doda districts.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan, SSP Anita Sharma, ADDC, Nawab Din, ADC, Ashok Kumar, ADC Doda, ACR, ASP, CMO, CEO, officers of NHAI, representatives of construction companies and other district officers were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, detailed deliberation was held on implementation of initiative "RAHAT" which was launched by the district administration Ramban on the directions of Lieutenant Governor to provide facilities to stranded passengers in case of highway closure due to landslides and snowfall during winter.
It was informed that twenty RAHAT Centres would be established along the National Highway where three persons including member of QRT, officials of Traffic police and civil administration besides the officials of essential departments would be deputed. The Div Com asked the AD, FCS &PD to ensure proper and timely distribution of ration and fuel supply in the district besides providing adequate supply to RAHAT centres.
He also directed the CMO, President QRT and Police department to submit the list of persons along with their contact numbers for deployment in RAHAT Centres. He asked the Executive Engineer STD to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Doda and Kishtwar districts besides preparing a restoration action plan.
Meanwhile, Div Com inspected various shelter sheds constructed for accommodating passengers in case of emergency.
He instructed the officers of NHAI for proper maintenance and management of National Highway stretch from Nashri to Banihal so that transportation of vehicles especially during winter is not obstructed.
Div Com stressed for keeping ready necessary men and machinery in order to deal with any type of exigency on the highway. Besides, traffic Jamming, congestion and other problems should be dealt with promptly, he added.
DDC apprised the Div Com of winter preparedness being ensured by the different departments including availability and stocking of food grains, fire wood and other essential commodities in the districts.
Div Com also directed CMO to keep sufficient stock of life saving medicines, surgical goods and other necessary medicines available in the districts.
