DC Srinagar visits control rooms set up by departments in late evening inspection

SRINAGAR, Nov 14: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary late Thursday evening visited control rooms different departments have established in the district in view of snowfall forecast for this weekend in Kashmir. Commissioner SMC Khurshid Sanai accompanied him. The DC inspected the establishment of these control rooms including those of MED, PDD, PHE, R&B, F&ES, I&FC, SMC and UEED and instructed all concerned departments to ensure their control rooms are fully responsive and prompt in responding to calls for action and assistance. He reiterated strict instructions for round-the-clock operation of these control rooms as directed and stressed on close coordination with the central control room established to oversee the overall operations ensuring coordination and organisation during eventualities. Dr Shahid who enquired about it was informed that ground staff has been equipped with necessary gear required to brave harsh weather conditions while dealing with eventualities that might arise because of snowfall as forecast. He also interacted with the ground staff instructing them to ensure their presence on the ground right till the end of the inclement weather. He directed the concerned officers for thorough implementation of action plans in order to ensure timely and coordinated redress of problems and eventualities. Speaking on the occasion the DC called on the general public to cooperate with the administration and be assured that the best possible measures have been taken to avoid interruption in services.
