Jammu, Nov 14: A meeting of the Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association was held here which was attended by a large number of SC/ST.
Association members stated that since 2009, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has, several times, given instructions to the University of Jammu to provide membership to SCs & STs in the competent bodies like University Council, Syndicate, Academic Council, Establishment Committee, etc. but, till date, no step has been taken by the JU administration to comply with the instructions.
Association members also stated that a long demand to constitute a Standing Committee for welfare of SCs, STs (as per the UGC instructions issued in 1988 and thereafter) was agreed to in principle by the former JU Registrar Dr Minakshi Kilam in their two meetings held in her office during her tenure but unfortunately no action was taken to issue a notification to this effect.
The meeting urged the JU Governing Class to pay attention to the matters. |
