SKUAST-Jammu organizes farmers training programme

Jammu, Nov 16: In its quest to further the pursuit of the Government of India for the strengthening of last man in the last line in the deprived sections of the society, All India Coordinated Research Project on Dryland Agriculture (AICRPDA), Rakh Dhiansar is making strides to transform the socio-economic condition of farming community belongs to the scheduled caste through various agricultural initiatives in Deoli village of block Bishnah adopted under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) component of AICRPDA, Rakh Dhiansar, organized one day Farmers Training Programme under the aegis of SKUAST-Jammu. During the programme more than 80 Nos of stakeholders involving farmers, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), scientists of ACRA, SKUAST-Jammu and officials from line departments have participated. The purpose of organizing this training programme is to sensitize the beneficiary farmers, belonging to scheduled caste section of the society, about the improved agriculture technologies for materializing the ambitious dream of the Government of India of doubling the farmers' income. During the event, a Scientists-Farmers interaction was conducted to aware them about improved agri-technologies to enhance farm income while working on resource optimization at farm level. Besides this, high quality seed of wheat and berseem along with other critical production inputs were distributed among the farmers adopted under SCSP programme.
