GCPF holds meeting

Jammu, Nov 17:
General Category People's Forum (GCPF) Jammu held its meeting under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Forum.
Addressing the meeting Banathia strongly condemned the existing system of reservation and termed it undemocratic and partial. The affluent and strong families have been crushing the poor, needy and deserving families among them.
Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Forum while expressing concerns over the imposition of heavy taxes and fines on common masses without applying mind whether they can afford to pay the same or not is a cause of resentment among the people against the government, which is very likely to mar the prospective of the ruling party. He demanded 50% cut in electric and water bills and heavy reduction in taxes and simplification of GST.
Sanson, questioned the "Tax-Terror" policy of Govt. He said that imposition of heavy taxes on all necessary items and services is anti poor and anti-middle class affecting them badly. Urging upon the Lt. Governor of Jammu Kashmir to review G.S.T. Scheme and take into consideration the sufferings of the poor and middle class.
Som Nath Sharma, Gen. Secretary stressed upon the Govt. to take legal steps to change negative perception about swam castes and they should be provided with equal opportunities and equal participation in public life and undo injustice meted out General Category people over the years through reservations by insensitive, selfish corrupt, biased political leaders. He demanded that Govt. should make the caste irrelevant while taking welfare steps for the poor. V.K. Sharma, Vice President sought immediate corrective measures to end discrimination being done with employees and students of General Category in jobs and admissions.
