DC Rajouri finalises modalities for revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll-2019

Rajouri, Nov 17: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting of the Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers regarding the revision schedule of Panchayat Electoral Roll-2019 with January 1, 2020 as eligible date for inclusion.
While speaking on the occasion,the DC said as per the revision schedule, publication of existing Panchayat Electoral Roll-2018 shall be done on November 18, 2019. Whereas, filing of claims and objections for additions/deletions/corrections/transportation is from November 18,2019 to December 8,2019.
The DC impressed upon the EROs and AEROs to monitor the progress of enrolments in order that all eligible voters are registered in the Electoral Rolls.
The ERO called for enhanced efforts for improving the cover at the earliest. On the occasion, the DC directed the officers to conduct awareness camps/Special camps on a regular basis to inform people about voting and voting rights. He further said that in democracy even a single vote can make a difference and no genuine voter should be left out.

The DC also reiterated that during the Special camps at the polling booth locations the Panchayat election booth officials along with Assembly BLOs shall remain available, for receiving the claims and objections for revising and updating the existing Panchayat Electoral Roll in accordance with the acts and rules.The special camps will be held on November 30, December 1,7 and 8,2019.

The meeting was attended by Chief planning Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri ,Sher Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria, Deputy District Election Officer, Rizwan Asger,District Panchayat Officer Dr Abdul Khabir and all the Block Development Officers of the district.
